Reward and cashback rules

Updated 24 August 2026. A BountyHunt Reward is optional post-purchase cashback offered by a business. The buyer never sets a preferred Reward.

Current policyEffective for the current BountyHunt service.
Legal operatorBountyHunt is a product and customer-facing business name operated by A.C.N. 700 220 784 PTY LTD.ABN 77700220784These terms apply to the current BountyHunt service. Market-specific registration and customer disclosures still apply.
01

What a Reward is

A Reward is conditional post-purchase cashback offered by the selected business. The buyer pays the business’s full purchase price. If the accepted offer’s conditions are met, the business provides the Reward by submitting a partial refund against the same eligible purchase charge to the original payment method. A Reward is not an upfront discount, BountyHunt balance, gift card or separate cash payout.

02

Who provides it

  • The business independently chooses whether to include a Reward and chooses its amount.
  • The named business is the seller, merchant of record and Reward provider for its purchase unless the accepted offer expressly states otherwise.
  • BountyHunt may record eligibility and, where the business agreement and payment-provider permissions allow, submit the partial-refund instruction on the business’s behalf.
  • BountyHunt does not hold or pre-fund Reward money for the buyer.
  • An offer with no Reward can still be selected on price, quality, timing, service or fit.
03

Qualifying purchase

  • The Reward was included in the selected offer before the purchase was made.
  • The buyer purchases the stated product or service from the selected business within the offer period using the supported BountyHunt purchase route and payment method shown in the offer.
  • The merchant, amount, currency, product or scope and other material purchase details match the accepted offer, or an agreed change is recorded before completion.
  • Required evidence is supplied by the stated deadline without collecting unnecessary card, bank or identity data.
  • The purchase is genuine, lawful and not duplicated, manipulated, cancelled or fully refunded.
  • An off-platform, cash, bank-transfer, gift-card, split-tender or otherwise untraceable purchase is not eligible unless the accepted offer expressly says that payment method is supported.
04

How cashback is returned

The buyer pays the full purchase price to the selected business. After BountyHunt records that the purchase meets the accepted conditions, the business’s Reward is submitted as a partial refund against that purchase charge. The refund can go only to the original payment method under the provider’s rules. BountyHunt does not create a withdrawal account or let the buyer redirect the Reward to another person or payment destination.

05

What each status means

  • Offered: the business included a conditional Reward in its offer; no purchase or refund has occurred.
  • Purchase pending: the buyer selected the offer but the qualifying purchase has not yet been confirmed.
  • Verification pending: BountyHunt is checking the stated completion evidence and conditions.
  • Cashback approved: the Reward conditions were met and a partial-refund instruction may be submitted.
  • Refund submitted or pending: the instruction was sent to the payment provider, but the cashback may not yet appear on the buyer’s original payment method.
  • Sent to original payment method: the provider reports that the refund succeeded; the buyer’s bank or issuer may still need time to display it.
  • Adjusted, cancelled, failed or under review: the amount or outcome changed because of a return, cancellation, provider failure, dispute, conflicting evidence or suspected manipulation.
06

Timing and support

Before selection, every Reward offer must show the event that starts eligibility review, the evidence deadline, the usual review period, the refund-submission target and the payment provider’s current estimate for the original payment method to display a successful refund. A submitted or pending status does not mean the money is available. If the displayed posting window passes, the buyer should use the protected support route and must not provide full card numbers, bank credentials or identity documents in chat.

07

Cancellations, returns and purchase refunds

If the purchase is cancelled or fully refunded before cashback is submitted, the Reward is cancelled. If cashback was already sent, it counts as part of the purchase amount already returned through the original charge; for a full purchase refund, the business must return the remaining amount so total refunds against that charge equal the amount originally paid. For a partial return or refund, the Reward is adjusted using the formula disclosed in the accepted offer. Unless that offer gives the buyer a more favourable rule, the adjusted Reward is the original Reward multiplied by the retained eligible purchase value divided by the original eligible purchase value, rounded to the nearest minor currency unit. These Reward rules do not exclude, restrict or delay rights and remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable Australian Consumer Law rights.

08

Failed refunds and disputes

A pending, failed or disputed refund is not marked complete and does not trigger an automatic duplicate payment. The named business remains responsible for an approved Reward and must resolve a failed return through the original payment provider under the accepted terms. BountyHunt does not turn a failed refund into a wallet balance or ask the buyer to pay a release fee. A bank or card dispute may pause duplicate refund processing while records are reconciled, but making a good-faith complaint or exercising a non-excludable consumer right must not by itself cancel an otherwise valid Reward.

09

No wallet, separate payout or escrow claim

Rewards are transaction-specific partial refunds. BountyHunt does not offer a reusable stored balance, peer-to-peer transfer facility, separate buyer payout or customer-controlled withdrawal account. Bounty Stacks organise purchases but do not pool funds. The words “escrow”, “held for you”, “secured” and similar custody claims must not be used for a Reward.

10

Tax

BountyHunt does not promise that a reward is tax-free. Personal and business buyers may have different tax treatment and should obtain advice relevant to their circumstances.
